What is a query letter?
A query letter is a cold email that pitches your book to a literary agent. In addition to introducing them to your project, it also introduces them to you as a writer and a person.
Why do I need to pitch literary agents?
The answer is that you don't need to, but you very well might want to. The vast majority of nonfiction is published by publishers who only accept material from literary agents. There are small indies who work with unagented authors, and there is also self-publishing.
It's all about the career you want. There are many journeys in this industry.
Is this class for me?
While I think it's always useful to have an idea of how to position yourself/your work, this class will be most helpful to people who are ready to start looking for an agent, which is to say, whose work is revised enough to be sent out and who can talk about their project as a conceptual whole.
Will this class be recorded, distributed, and/or available for later purchase?
No. This is out of consideration for the privacy of attendees, so that they can ask the questions that they need to ask.
No refunds.
